The two-step method, also known as the alcohol exchange method, involves the initial reaction of butanol and glucose to produce butyl glucoside, by alcohol exchange with dodecanol to produce APG.  However, this method is associated with high costs, challenges in quality assurance, and furthermore,Byproduct butyl glucoside not suitable for used in personal care or food machine cleaning。

The one-step method involves the direct reaction of glucose with Fatty alcohol to produce APG. It possesses excellent surface activity, strong cleaning power, outstanding compatibility, non-toxicity, non-irritation, rapid and complete biodegradability, and environmental harmlessness. It can even be used as a food additive. Widely employed overseas, it finds applications in various fields such as shampoo, shower gel, cosmetics, dishwashing detergents, industrial cleaning agents, and industrial emulsifiers.
